Mike Cote Tech LLC provides fully managed VPN exit node hosting for Tailscale and NetBird. We provision and maintain the exit node server, assign your dedicated IP address, and keep the infrastructure running — you manage your own coordination server through your Tailscale or NetBird account.
Every plan includes a dedicated IP address, unlimited devices and users, and your choice of bandwidth port from 200 Mbps up to 1 Gbps. No root access is provided — this is a fully managed service. You get the performance and privacy of a dedicated exit node without the complexity of managing the server yourself.
This plan provides the exit node server only. You must have an active Tailscale or NetBird account to use this service — both offer free plans. Your coordination server is managed through tailscale.com or netbird.io, not through this hosting plan.
What Is a VPN Exit Node?
In a mesh VPN network like Tailscale or NetBird, an exit node is a server that acts as a gateway for your internet traffic. When you route traffic through an exit node, your internet activity appears to originate from the exit node's IP address rather than your own — giving you a consistent, dedicated outbound IP and keeping your traffic private from your ISP and public networks.
Unlike shared VPN services where thousands of users share the same IP address, a dedicated exit node means the IP is yours alone — not flagged by streaming services, not blocklisted, not shared with strangers.
An App Connector
extends this further — allowing specific applications or services to route through the VPN without requiring a full device-level tunnel. Useful for securing access to internal tools, APIs, or services for your team without routing all traffic through the VPN.
How the coordination server works:
Tailscale and NetBird use a coordination server to manage device authentication, key exchange, and access control. This coordination happens through your account on tailscale.com or netbird.io — not on this hosted server. Our managed server handles only the exit node and relay functions. This separation keeps the architecture clean and gives you full control over your own network through your provider's dashboard.

This service provides the exit node server infrastructure only. You are responsible for your own coordination server through your Tailscale or NetBird account.

Q: What exactly does this hosting plan provide?
A: This plan provides the exit node server only. We provision and manage a VPS configured as a Tailscale or NetBird exit node with a dedicated IP address. Q: Why isn't Headscale supported?
A: Headscale requires a self-hosted coordination server, which is not included in this plan. This plan provides exit node infrastructure only — coordination is handled through your Tailscale or NetBird account. If you need a self-hosted Headscale coordination server, contact us to discuss a custom arrangement.
Q: What is an App Connector and do I need one?
A: An App Connector allows specific applications or services to route through the VPN without requiring a full device-level tunnel. It's useful for businesses that need to secure access to specific internal tools without routing all traffic through the VPN. App Connector configuration is included in all plans — whether you use it is up to you.
Q: Can I use both Tailscale and NetBird on the same plan?
A: No. Each plan is configured for one VPN tool — either Tailscale or NetBird. You choose at the time of purchase. Switching between tools after setup is possible — contact us to arrange it. Additional configuration time may apply.
Q: What is the setup process after I purchase?
A: After purchase, Mike Cote Tech LLC will contact you within 24–48 business hours to confirm your chosen VPN tool and collect any configuration details. Server provisioning typically takes 1–3 business days. You will receive your dedicated IP address and connection details by email once setup is complete.
Q: Can I upgrade to a faster port later?
A: Yes. Upgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Contact us at (978) 763-6164 or support@mikecotetechservices.com to arrange an upgrade.
Q: Is there a contract?
A: No contract on monthly plans — cancel any time at the end of your billing period. Annual plans are billed upfront. Setup fees are non-refundable once provisioning has begun.
Q: What if my exit node goes down?

Q: Do you offer a trial?
